“The Word became flesh
and made His dwelling among us.

We have seen his glory,
the glory of
the one and only Son,

who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth.”

-John 1:14

MUSIC NOTE

It is our prayer that the peace of God fill the heart of each worshiper on this special Christmastide Sabbath. We are glad that you are here.

Christmas provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome friends and family back home to the Walla Walla University Church. Tim Ruybalid, a graduate of the WWU music department, moved his family to our
valley several months ago and we are delighted to have him perform today and officially welcome him home. Several of our musicians are here only for the holidays - Daniel Goltz currently studies medicine at Duke University; Debra Baklund continues to light up the music department of Burman University; and Julia Salerno does the same at Eastern Washington University – welcome home all. Finally, we thank our own Benjamin Gish who plays along with his daughter Julia.

Sometimes words can take on new meaning when we encounter them in poetic form rather than interlined in music. As you prepare your heart to worship, please take some quiet time to read the following in this way.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing.

-Kraig Scott

THIS SABBATH
AT THE UNIVERSITY CHURCH

Sabbath's Question:
Cultural holidays like Christmas and Halloween have pagan roots.  Why do Adventists celebrate only Christmas, but not the others?
